Shankara came about when Bunnie Gulick , a cosmetic chemist and the formulator of Shankara meet the Dalai Lama in India on one of her travels. Following this visit she became inspired to develop a line that was not only based on the outer beauty but the inner beauty and the consciousness too. It took around 3 years for the line to be researched, ingredients tested and finally the line was developed in 2003. The herbs and extracts were selected from the East, the essentials, actives and anti oxidants from Europe and America .

Today Shankara is based in Texas , America and is situated on a 144 acre ranch where the products are developed from beginning to finish. This enables the company to monitor the quality and turnover time for the products.

Shankara is different from other botanical lines, as they cold-process and cold-filter the herbal oils, never heating them above 100 degrees since heat kills off nutrients, enzymes and vitamins. For that reason they're very potent! The ingredients that are used for the line works on repairing and rejuvenating the face and skin from within and the fragrance is a true sign that the products are 100% organic.
