The Villas Bali Hotel & Spa continue charitable work The Villas Bali Hotel and Spa continue their commitment to local community foundations with several enthusiastic staff members joining a trekking expedition through the mountain villages of Muntigunung on the slopes of the holy mountain Gunung Agung, which was organized by the Yayasan Masa Depan Untuk Anak Anak (Foundation Future for Children), a Swiss-Indonesian non-profit organization. The foundation helps the people of Muntigunung to improve their living conditions in the long-term by providing water catchment systems and enabling them to generate sustainable incomes. Accompanied by villagers and an experienced local guide, the staff enjoyed a part of the island that some of them never even knew about. The trek coincided with a visit to a cashew nuts and palm sugar production area, so our staff were able to purchase products from Muntigunung to help support the project. They were also able to donate some other helpful provisions, such as linen, bedcovers, sandals and clothes. The funding is mainly gathered in Switzerland, while local businesses in Bali support the projects greatly by purchasing products from Muntigunung and by promoting the trekking adventures. The foundation eventually hopes to develop the water supply of the all the villages and support the continuing education of all the children. Currently seven villages are supplied with communal water tanks, and by producing saleable items, such as hats, cashew nuts, and rosella tea, that generate income for the village, the villagers no longer have to go begging in the cities. The Villas Bali Hotel and Spa continues their support for this foundation by promoting the mountain trekking to guests and purchasing the products from Muntigunung for use in the hotel.
