Greetings From The Villas Bali Hotel & Spa!

Bali is ushering in the festive season in pure style after what has been an amazing year. It is shaping up to be the busiest year ever on record for this resort island, and here at The Villas Bali Hotel & Spa the vibe has never been better. We recently joined the annual Clean Up The World Day in Bali, we have launched a new menu at Prana Restaurant, we have welcomed several new staff to our team, and we have given away another free villa package.

On the subject of giving, heading into Christmas and New Year, the atmosphere is charged with good cheer. It is such a wonderful time of year for giving and showing appreciation, and we are always glad to share this with our guests. So if you happen to be spending Christmas with us this year, we look forward to helping you celebrate this tradition with a magical tropical twist, providing an experience you would never get at home. At Prana Restaurant, we have created a special Christmas feast that you can enjoy in the privacy of your villa or in the dining room with other guests. Whatever you decide, there is no reason to let this occasion slip by quietly just because you are away from home.

Of course, the same goes for New Year’s Eve, the holiday that is celebrated by everyone around the world. What better way to celebrate the joy of life and set out your hopes and dreams for the year to come, than in the place called the Morning of the World? Consider making a new resolution early, one that will be easy to keep: wake up to 2009 in Bali.
The team at The Villas Bali Hotel & Spa would be privileged to share these special occasions with you.

David Kearns
General Manager

Staff Profile - Anak Agung Ari Adnyani (Waitress)

When did you start working at The Villas Bali Hotel & Spa?
I started working as a waitress at Prana Restaurant in December 1999.

You have been a waitress for nine years. What do you enjoy about your job the most?
It is very interesting. I love the guest contact and I am able to practise several languages. As well, many previous and returning customers stay in contact with me and I have made many new friends from all over the world.

What was your biggest change in the last nine years?
At first Prana Restaurant was independent and wasn’t part of the hotel. We served only Indian food at that time. After the hotel took over Prana, we expanded the menu and now we serve a wide variety of dishes. Also, my job expanded and we had to learn to serve room service in the villas.

I heard you were once awarded Employee of the Year?
Yes, I was Employee of the Year in 2004. This made me feel very happy and appreciated.

Do you have any future career plans?
I always wanted to work as a Guest Relations Officer. It seems very exciting and variable. Or being a Captain in the Food & Beverage Department would be great too.

Clean Up The World

The Villas Bali Hotel & Spa joined the Clean Up The World Day this year for the third time, in cooperation with several other hotels in the Seminyak area and the organization Clean Seminyak. This year the focus was on cleaning the mangrove forest in Sanur as well as planting new mangroves. This is a very important initiative as this forest covers 622 acres and acts as natural protection against tidal waves and erosion, as well as being home to many wildlife and marine creatures.

Prana’s New Menu Has Now Been Launched

East meets West in the innovative new menu launched at Prana Restaurant this month, with an expanded range of offerings to suit every palette.

All the old favourites are still there, but the award-winning restaurant, recently declared “One of the best in Indonesia” by the esteemed Tattler magazine, has added a virtual banquet of new starters, soups, salads, pastas, pizzas, mains and vegetarian options, not to mention delectable desserts to complete every meal in style. The menu retains its international diversity, with the best of Asian and Western cuisine. Those who like the different combinations of flavours, textures and techniques used to create modern fusion food will be tempted by the Pork Stuffed with Dried Apricots and finished with a Vermouth tuna sauce, or the Tuna Cheviche comprising the freshest tuna sashimi topped with spicy jalapenos. Zing!
