Greetings from The Villas Bali Hotel & Spa |
As we wind down from a busy New Year period, the festivities do not end at The Villas Bali Hotel & Spa.
Easter is coming up in late March, and there is no better time to take advantage of the opportunity for a complete escape to Bali , where The Villas provides the perfect sanctuary with special accommodation and spa packages.
It is a time for giving, and The Villas' team is proud to have been able to share some cheer with the children at the Jodie O'Shea Orphanage in Denpasar. A big thank-you goes to Jon and Gillian Gunn for raising the money to provide food and gifts to put smiles on these children's faces, and to the hotel staff for organising the purchase and delivery of the packages.
Finally, congratulations to our monthly raffle winners, who have received a two-night complimentary stay at The Villas.
We look forward to welcoming you soon and making your stay with us a memorable one!

David Kearns,
General Manager

Staff Profile - Ketut Mustika (Housekeeping) |
 |
Tell me something about yourself.
My name is I Ketut Mustika. I am 32 years and working as a Public Area Supervisor at The Villas Bali.
When did you start at The Villas Bali and how did you become a Public Area Supervisor?
I started working at The Villas in 2000 as a gardener, just after the opening of the Sunset Villas. After one year I moved to the house keeping department and worked in the public area of Prana Spa and Prana Restaurant. Then 4 years ago I became a Public Area Supervisor |
What do you enjoy about your job?
I like the variation in my job. I am responsible for the spa and restaurant area and especially the spa is a challenge with the detailed interior, carpets etc. Furthermore, the villa management gives us the opportunity to broaden our skills in other areas too; currently I am learning about the control and cleanliness in the villas!
Do you enjoy working at The Villas Bali?
Yes, I love my job very much.
I am working in a great team and the team work between the different departments is very good.
What would you like to become in the future?
I would love to become a Housekeeping Supervisor in the future. |

The Villas supports Jodie O'Shea Orphanage |
 |
Christmas is a time for giving, and The Villas Hotel & Spa is proud to have been involved in a community fundraising effort to provide much-needed equipment, clothing and food to the Jodie O'Shea Orphanage in Denpasar, to benefit the children's general livelihood and nutrition.
|
The Villas helped to collect donations of clothing and raised money to buy milk, noodles, bottled water, cooking oil, rice, biscuits, chips, sugar, toothbrushes, soap, toothpaste, shampoo and other necessities for the orphanage. These food supplies will feed the orphanage for at least one month, and an additional cash donation was made to allow the orphanage to buy more food as required.
Significantly, a new freezer was also donated, enabling the orphanage to store meat to provide extra protein in the children's diet on a regular basis.
David Kearns, General Manager at The Villas, said special mention must be made of the organisers of this initiative, Jon and Gillian Gun.
“A big thank you to Jon and Gillian Gun, owners of one of the villas in our resort, for organising this amazing effort, and to Stephanie Owens for her continuous support for charity over the years,” David said. “Thanks to them, there were many big smiles on these children's little faces.”
A special thank you was also made to Jon Augustin, who bought each boy a new pair of soccer boots, as well as 12 soccer balls, 24 wooden puzzles, 24 etch sketches and 30 tennis balls to be shared by all of the children.
About the Jodie O'Shea Orphanage
The inspiration for this orphanage was Jodie O'Shea, a young Australian who was a victim of the 2002 Bali bombing . With the blessing of Jodie's parents, Rhonda and Gerard, this orphanage was established in her memory in August 2005 to remind us all that even out of the most tragic events, truly wonderful acts of kindness and humanity can blossom and bring light to the lives of many.
The orphanage currently has more than 30 children, and more are being brought in every month. Four more joined the orphanage recently, and another six will join this month. Most of the children come from Sumba Island and have grown up in severe poverty. At the orphanage, they are part of a safe, secure environment and enjoy the opportunity to go to school. |
