THE AUSTRALIAN - OCTOBER

Troppo House Warming
The notion of renting holiday houses is well entrenched with Australians
- at least when we’re on home turf. And although the
trend toward villa rentals in unspeakably beautiful destinations
such as Provence and Tuscany continues apace, we’ve been
slow to explore Asia for a possible home-away-from-home experience.
It
could be that resort holidays, in particular, have been so cheap
and easy at such Asian beach destinations as Bali, Phuket and Penang,
and the possibility of more local accommodation, although picturesque,
hasn’t come with the promise of air-conditioning, pool
& other such creature comforts.
But in Bali, at least, there’s now the option of renting
a house that essentially is a small, private resort, and with a
price tag that is reasonable, especially when spread among groups
of friends or families. |
